Mary Poppins and the Return of the Merch

Hi lovelies! So it's been A MINUTE since I last posted. I'd been taking a break to just focus on Instagram as 2018 has been throwing me curveballs right, left and centre but I've decided I want to get back into blogging in 2019! Until then I've had Mary Poppins fever recently with the new film hitting cinemas in just a few weeks! As always with a Disney film release, there's lots of lovely new merchandise so I've been scouring the internet to find my favourite practically perfect pieces. Here are my top picks:

Couture Kingdom have been killing it with their new Mary Poppins collection. There's so many pieces I need in my life but my favourites have to be their Anything Can Happen Bangle (#5 - £45) and the London Skyline Necklace (#7 - £45). I'm dying over the little Mary flying into London on the necklace, what a cute lil' detail!

ShopDisney of course have lots of new Mary goodies on offer like this lovely Disney Store Umbrella Necklace (#4 - £13) and as an avid hoarder of Disney shopping bags, I've also got my eye on the Disney Store Mary Poppins Returns Resuable Shopper (#3 - £3). EMP also have a wonderful selection of merch for the upcoming film including four new Funko Pops! I love the Mary Poppins with Bag (#9 - £12.99) one especially - that cute little polka dot shirt! There's also this Umbrella T-Shirt (#6 - £16.99) which would be perfect to wear to the cinema.

Another Disney thing I can't help but collecting is mugs and this A Spoonful of Sugar one from TruffleShuffle (#1 - £9.99) is my favourite I've come across! I'm also so in love with their Practically Perfect In Every Way Umbrella (#2 - £24.99). How perfect would this look peeking out of an umbrella stand? And last but not least, I've actually never got round to reading any of the Mary Poppins books so this beautiful Book Collection from The Book People (#8 - £6.99) is exactly what I need! Those vintage-looking striped covers though.

Mary Poppins Returns releases in the UK on 21st December. We've got our tickets booked for New Year's Day and I can't think of a better way to start the year off!

5 Books I'd Recommend To Disney Fans

Hi lovelies! The lovely Stacey from Weird and Wonderful Things and I are both huge fans of Disney and bookworms at heart so we thought we'd do a little collaboration to combine the two! Although Disney itself publishes lots of their own wonderful books, there's so many non-Disney books that also give you that magical feeling so today we're sharing a few books that we think Disney fans would love! I've linked the Goodreads page with each of my recommendations so you can find out a little more about them/see the cover etc. Also just a warning, I'm terrible at describing books but I'm trying my best! How I ever used to be a book blogger, I honestly don't know...!

1. Cinder by Marissa Meyer
This had been on my to-read list for literally years and I finally got round to reading it this year and it certainly didn't disappoint! Cinder is a young adult, futuristic re-telling of the classic Cinderella fairytale which is set in Asia. It's got to be the freshest take on Cinderella I've ever come across and it works so well! This is actually part of a series where every book is based around a fairytale story and I can't wait to read the rest.

2. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
If I could only recommend that you pick up one book from this list, it would be this one! This is another retelling, although this time it's Beauty and the Beast. ACOTAR is my favourite genre ever, high fantasy, and it's one of those books that you will just not be able to put down! If you do read this book, just a lilttle warning - it has some mature content so this would only be suitable for older readers and the start of the book is tough-going but once you've gotten through that, the book gets very good, very quickly!

3. Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
This is definitely one of those books that has that Disney kind of magic to it! I actually found out about this book from watching the Studio Ghibli adaptation of it and it's such a lovely, whimsical story. I actually did a little review of this book a while ago so if you'd like to know a little more about it, you can find my review here.

4. Undercover Princess by Connie Glynn
I'm currently reading this one right now and while it's not the most perfect book ever, it's such an adorable story... It's like The Princess Diaries meets Harry Potter! It has a gay element to the story too and without spoiling anything, the relationship between the two characters is so dang cute! This would be the perfect light read for a summer holiday.

5. The Surface Breaks by Louise O'Neill
And last but not least is The Surface Breaks which has been described as a "feminist reimagining of The Little Mermaid" and GIRL am I here for that! I haven't had the chance to read this properly yet but this honestly sounds so wonderful and I think it's something a lot of other Disney fans will love too. Seriously, so much YES to all these young adult retellings of Disney fairytales!
I hope you've found something new to add to your reading list. If you know of any other books like these PLEASE hit me up with your recommendations. I need to add more books like these to my reading list!

Remember to check out Stacey's post to see which books she's recommended too!

How To Prepare For Bedtime Like A Disney Princess

Hi lovelies! The lovely Mandy from Mandy Jean World and I have teamed up to share some "get ready" routines based on some of our favourite Disney Princesses! As Aurora is the Queen of beauty sleep I thought I'd share some tips on how to prepare for a night's sleep that even Sleeping Beauty herself would be jealous of!

Last year I started my current shifts at work where I have to be in work for 7 in the morning (sometimes 6!) so that means I really had to get my sleep routine down in the evening. I haven't quite managed to stick to this yet, but when I do it really works wonders so I hope this helps anyone who's struggling with sleep at the moment!
Step one: face mask
Nothing helps me relax in the evenings like a lil' pampering! I'm obsessed with face masks at the moment as they're a fairly low-maintenance way to boost your skin. My next one to try out is this Sleeping Beauty-themed one from Mad Beauty and I can't wait to give it a go!
Step two: make a cup of tea
There are lots of different teas out there that can aid sleep but my current favourite is lavender tea. As well as being caffeine-free, lavender helps reduce anxiety so it's perfect to help you wind-down before bed. If it's cold outside I have it hot but if it's warm night I brew it in a little hot water which I then top up with cold water and ice so you can have it all year round!

Step three: set alarms and put away any electronic devices
You've probably heard this a million times over but electronic devices really do disrupt sleep so I try to set my alarms and then put my phone away about an hour before I go to sleep. If you can, set up a "do not disturb" setting on your phone so you don't get any notifications going off overnight and waking you up!

Step four: read
Next I settle down with a good book. I remember reading a statistic somewhere that just 5 minutes of reading helps you to de-stress so I always try to read even just a little before bedtime as it puts me in a much better mindframe for sleep. I usually read with a candle burning and the window open and it's so relaxing!
Step five: sleep!
It's finally sleep time! Unfortunately I have anxiety and it often bubbles up when I'm trying to sleep so if I find my mind is still racing then I give my pillow a good spritz with a lavender spray. Both my boyfriend and I swear by this stuff as it's such a soothing, calming scent! This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray also works wonders but any lavender spray should have the same effect.

I really hope this helps anyone who's been having trouble with their sleep recently! Let me know if you think I've missed anything that works for you, I need all the help I can get with sleep...!

My Current Grail Disney Items Wishlist

Hi lovelies! The problem with being a Disney fan is that most of us always have a wishlist longer than a novel of the various Disney items we *need* in our life... The Disney fandom honestly has to be the most expensive fandom to be in! So the lovely Lize from Lize in Disneyland thought we'd collaborate and share the merch that is top of our respective wishlists at the moment! You can see what made Lize's list here. Let's begin!

Disney Showcase Live Action Cinderella
If you've followed me for a while, or if you're a fan of the film, you might know that my blog is named after the live action Cinderella ("have courage and be kind") so this gorgeous Showcase figurine has been on my wishlist for the longest time! It's so beautifully done and I love that it's her iconic ball dress - I was mesmerised by it from the moment it first appeared on screen! I will definitely have to add this to my collection soon.

Funko Pop
Halloween Town Sora
I've recently started playing Kingdom Hearts and true to my addictive personality, I naturally want to buy all of the merch, including this Halloween Town Sora! I'm a huge fan of Halloween too so this is the perfect crossover for me!

Walt Disney World Christmas 2016 Mug
This was a really hard pick because I've always got a list as long as my arm for grail mugs but this Christmas one has to be at the top! I posted a while ago about how I narrowly missed out on getting it from the Disney Store and it's haunted me ever since! It's the most beautiful Christmas Disney mugs I've ever seen and I so badly want to get my paws on it!

Snow Globe
Disneyland Paris Rapunzel Snow Globe
Another item I missed out on whilst it was on the Disney Store website, argh! I don't own a single Disney snow globe which makes me so sad - snow globes are so gosh darn magical! This Rapunzel one is my most wanted one as Punzie is always my favourite gal and little Pascal is just so adorable in the globe itself! Hopefully I'll be able to track this down on eBay someday.

Loungefly Minnie Mouse Sequined Mini Backpack
This is a very new one but it was like love as first sight... In the backpack form! This ridiculously shiny is currently only available in the US but I'm hoping and praying that it finds its way over here too because it's literally my dream bag... Rose gold, sequins and Minnie Mouse?! HELL YES GIRL.

Walt Disney World Castle
This Lego Castle is an absolute dream! It's a couple of hundred pounds so it will probably always stay a dream for me haha but I've recently got into building Lego - does anyone else find it oddly therapeutic?! - and this would definitely keep me happy for a good number of hours! Plus what a gorgeous display piece it would be once it was finished!

Those are my current favourties! Do you share any of these or do you even own some of these yourself (ngl I'll be very jealous)? Let me know in the comments below!

7 Disney Songs That Always Make Me Happy*

Hi lovelies! I've teamed up with Panasonic to share seven of my favourite Disney songs that never fail to make me happy! Nothing brings a smile to my face quite like belting out Disney songs and with a Panasonic Waterproof Bluetooth speaker, what better way to start your day than singing along in the shower to these feel-good anthems! I've chosen these songs from all over the Disney universe so there might be a few new discoveries, alongside some classics too!

1. Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious - Mary Poppins
I defy a single person to listen to this song without getting a smile on their face! The oh-so-lovely Julie Andrews recently appeared on The Graham Norton Show and proved that she could still say "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" backwards even now... Practically perfect in every way!

2. Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride - Lilo & Stitch
Although the Lilo & Stitch soundtrack is packed full of iconic songs, this particular classic is a favourite of mine as the Hawaiian singing always transports me to a warmer climate!

3. My Year - ZOMBIES
While it may be the most recent Disney Channel Original Movie, ZOMBIES has soared straight into my list of favourites for it's crazily catchy soundtrack. I absolutely love "My Year" in particular though because it's such a positive, feel-good song. It's definitely a must for any Disney playlist.

4. You're Welcome - Moana
Another film with a brilliant soundtrack! While most songs from Moana leave me all teary because ALL OF THE FEELS, it's impossible to not feel good after listening to the oh-so-sassy "You're Welcome". At the very least you won't be able to resist cracking a smile from attempting the rap from this song! I can't keep up even when I'm reading the lyrics!

5. Wind In My Hair - Tangled: The Series
Composed by Disney legend Alan Menken for the Disney Channel's brilliant Tangled: The Series, "Wind In My Hair" is just as good, if not better, than any of the original songs from the film itself! Even my non-Disney-loving-boyfriend can't help singing along to this when it comes on in the car!

6. Dream Big, Princess
This total power anthem that Disney released for their Dream Big Princess campaign is criminally unheard of! It's such an inspiring and empowering song, whenever I need a little motivation this is always my go-to!

7. When Can I See You Again? - Wreck-It Ralph
And finally, this has to be the most upbeat Disney song of all! It's such a fun song that you just can't help but dance to. Fingers crossed Owl City return with a new song for Wreck-It Ralph 2!

Did I miss any of your favourite feel-good Disney songs? Let me know in the comments below, I'm always looking to add more songs to my playlist!

My 5 Favourite Disney Universe Funko Pops

Hi lovelies! When I bought my first Funko Pop I thought I'd end up buying the odd one or two to add to my shelves but it's been just a couple of years and I've already built up quite the collection... These cuties are just too adorable to resist! I was hoping to share an updated collection post this year (you can see my previous collection post here) but unfortunately about half my Pops are in storage at the moment so I thought I'd share my current favourites instead!
5. Sally with Nightshade (The Nightmare Before Christmas)
Number 5 is my favourite spooky gal, Sally. This is the Nightshade version where she's clutching the trusty potion she uses to escape from Doctor Finklestein and it also features an adorable little black cat peeking out from behind her! I was kindly gifted this at an event held by EMP but it's still available on their website for £12.99!
4. Gus Gus in Slipper (Live Action Cinderella)
Look at this little cutie pie in his glass slipper! This is definitely one of the most unique Funko Pops in my collection - he really stands out on my shelves! I bought him a few years ago now but he might crop up on eBay if you keep an eye out.
3. Porg - Chase Edition (Star Wars: The Last Jedi)
I think we can all agree that Porgs are just about the most adorable things ever and this Funko Pop captures them perfectly! I was actually lucky enough to get the Chase Edition but the normal version is just as cute! You can order them from here for just £12.99.
2. Kylo Ren - Unmasked (Star Wars: The Force Awakens)
If you've been reading this blog for a while then you won't be surprised at this one! From the moment I first saw The Force Awakens I developed a bit of an obsession with Kylo Ren so as soon as I saw they were making an special edition unmasked Pop, I knew I had to track him down! He was only available in the US so he's definitely the priciest Pop figutr I own but he's worth every penny to me!

If you'd like something similar but without the hefty price tag, Funko actually released a similar unmasked one for Episode 8 which is available here for £12.99.
1. Ernesto de la Cruz (Coco)
PLEASE tell me I'm not the only person who has a weird lil' crush on this guy?! I know I'm not supposed to like him but there's just something so charming about him...? Questionable crushes aside, this Ernesto de la Cruz Pop easily steals the top spot on my list for how gorgeously detailed it is. I don't think I've ever seen a Funko Pop before that's quite so intricate! He's also available from EMP for £12.99.

What did you think of my choices? Let me know your favourite Pops from your collection!

For Mothers that love their Disney Style, this Danielle Nicole Aurora Lips Clutch Bag (#1) (£45.00) or Couture Kingdom Beauty and the Beast Rose Earrings (#6) (£29.00) would make the perfect picks. Or if your Mama is in need of a bit of rest and relaxation then how about this beautifully packaged Mad Beauty Bambi Bath Soak (#4) (£3.99) to unwind with and then these Stance Minnie Mouse Socks (#5) (£13.99) to cosy up in afterwards? I have a pair of Disney Stance socks myself and they're honestly the nicest quality socks I've ever owned so they'll definitely be Mum-approved!

Alternatively if your Mum is a little like mine and always running about doing 50 things at once (I don't know how she does it!) then she'll love this Oh My Disney Sleeping Beauty Travel Mug (#3) (£10.00) for getting her caffeine fix on the go! And finally this Cath Kidston Mickey and Friends Teapot (#7) (£25.00) and Disney Store Minnie Mouse Half Mug (#2) (£12.99) would be perfect additions to the traditional Mother's Day breakfast in bed!

The Disney Easter Gift Exchange

Hi lovelies! With Easter on the horizon (and sunny days and blue skies!), I thought I'd like to do something to celebrate the season! For the past two years I've hosted a Disney Halloween Gift Exchange on Twitter which is basically a Disney/Halloween-themed Secret Santa so I thought I'd try my hand at holding an Easter one on Instagram this year!

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

How it works/rules:
- This is a secret exchange so I'll pick a person for each participant to send a gift to and a person for everyone to recieve a gift from! The person you are sending to and the person you are receiving a gift from will be different so it will be a great opportunity for you to get to know two people in the Disney community a little better!

- The theme is Disney and Easter so you'll need to include something from both of these in your gift. For example for Easter you could include some Easter chocolate or a card and then for Disney... Anything Disney-themed goes!

- The budget is £10 (postage not included) but handmade gifts are more than welcome!

- This is open to anyone who has an Instagram and would like to take part but only addresses in the UK I'm afraid due to logistics!

- Remember to include your Instagram handle with your gift so the recipient knows who it's from!

- You can post your gift by any postage class/type you wish, but you must obtain proof of postage and you'll need to send me a picture of this once it has been posted

- If for any reason anyone doesn't send a gift to their recipient and I don't get any contact from them I'm afraid I will have to blacklist you from taking part in any future gift exchanges I host (I know this sounds harsh but you'd be surprised how often this happens...!)

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

- I will be collecting everyone's details until the end of Sunday 4th March

- I will allocate everyone someone to send to by Wednesday 7th March and then you can start shopping!

- Your gift needs to be posted by Monday 19th March by the latest

- If I haven't heard from anyone with their proof of postage by Tuesday 20th March I will start chasing those people!

- If you haven't received your gift by Monday 26th March please let me know and I'll get something sorted. Don't worry - everyone will definitely receive a gift one way or another!

***If you think you won't make the last posting day please let me know! As long as I'm kept in the loop we can get things sorted!***

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

If you'd like to get involved:
Send me a message on Instagram (@courageandkindness) with these details:

1. Your full name and address
2. A few of your favourite Disney characters/films
(To make it easier for the person who is buying for you!)
3. Whether you'd be happy to receive sweets/chocolates

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

And that's everything! If there's anything you'd like to ask, feel free to send me a message on Instagram!

The Oh My Disney Collection at the Disney Store UK

Hi lovelies! The most amazing big ol' box of goodies arrived on my doorstop from the Disney Store last week and I'm so excited to share it with you! Digital Disney superbrand Oh My Disney have teamed up the Disney Store to create the most magical yet sassy collection and I am so in love. The entire range is utterly dreamy and there's everything from glittery notebooks to an inspirational makeup bag! Here are some of the wonderful things I received...
Pencil Set - £6.00
Journal - £12.00

Everything in this collection is so incredibly designed - it definitely feels like a collection that was made for the fans! While the usual popular films are covered in this collection like Cinderella and Snow White, they've also included some other Disney films that don't usually get as much love like Mulan and Brave which makes me so happy to see!
Luggage tag - £8.00
Sticky Notes Set - £6.00
Passport Holder - £10.00

As well as the beautiful designs, everything still has that usual Disney Store quality and attention to detail that you'd expect. I love how the makeup bag has an adorable Lion King print on the inside and even the travel mug has a proper sliding lid on the top, making it just as practical as it is pretty. No coffee bag spills for this sleepy Princess!
Make sure you check out the entire collection on the Disney Store's website! There's also an amazing pin set and the loveliest Millennial pink Cinderella shirt that I may have to add to my basket on a future order!

A huge, huge thank you to the Disney Store for sending me these gorgeous things. I'd spotted this collection online a while ago and I had been praying that it would come to the UK so I was so over-the-moon to be given all these goodies!

EMP'S Beauty and the Beast Sparkling Dress (#3 - £32.99) and Beauty and the Beast Rose Choker (#11 - £7.99) would also make the perfect Valentine's dinner outfit!

Star Wars Valentine's Day 2018 Gift Guide - For Her & Him

Hi lovelies! With Valentine's Day fast approaching I thought I'd share a round-up of my favourite Star Wars pieces that would make a great gifts for fans. As you can see this is mainly an ode to Porgs, but let's face it, who doesn't love those little guys?! If you don't have a special someone in your life then Valentine's Day is the perfect opportunity to treat yourself - just think of all that money you're saving on chocolates/flowers/presents etc.! ;)

1. Chewbacca Valentine's Day Card, Typo - £2.50

2. The Last Jedi Reusable Shopper Bag, Disney Store - £3.00
I know this seems like a strange gift but I actually like to buy shopper bags to use as gift bags as they can actually be used again by the recipient afterwards and this Last Jedi one from the Disney Store is a really nice quality one - the images on the front are actually lenticular art!

3. Stance Star Wars Darth Vader Socks, Disney Store - £15.99
I have a pair of the Disney x Stance socks and they're without a doubt the nicest quality socks I own so these are definitely worth the price tag!

4. Porg Lives Matter Pin, Alice Vitrum - £5.00 (pre-order, £7.00 normal price)
Alice Vitrum have some of the loveliest Disney and Star Wars merch but this Porg pin has got to be one of my favourite designs of theirs! It's on pre-order at the moment so it won't arrive until after Valentine's Day but at only £5 it would make a lovely little add-on present to surprise them with after.

5. Porg Loungefly Patch, EMP - £4.99

6. Star Wars Art: Comics, Disney Store - £25.00
If the art on the cover of this book is anything to go by then this book looks like it will be a beauty! If your partner is a fan of Star Wars comics then this would be the perfect gift.

7. Porg Coffee Cozy, Fly a Kite Creations - £5.00
Is this not the cutest coffee cozy you've ever seen?! I actually have one of these myself and it's such great quality and incredibly adorable - a great gift for any coffee-loving Star Wars fan! Plus if you use the code "COURAGE10" you can get 10% off!

8. Porg Loungefly Wallet, EMP - £19.99

9. LEGO Brickheadz Kylo Ren, Zavvi - £9.99
I usually include a Funko Pop in almost every gift guide I do as they make great gifts and are very reasonably priced but this time instead I'm recommending these LEGO Brickheadz! These would be a great addition to your partner's work desk or as a little decoration around the house. I have a feeling I'll be treating myself to this Kylo Ren one before long to add to my shelves!

10. Porgs Cardigan, EMP - £41.99
And last but not least is this ridiculously cute Porgs-in-pocket cardigan from EMP! All of my pockets now feel empty without some adorable lil' Porgs to keep them company...

Hope this helps anyone who was a little stuck for inspiration!

Disney Inspired Drinks: Mickey Ears Vegan Hot Chocolate

Hi lovelies! If you've been reading my blog for a while you'll remember that the lovely Sam from The Belle Jar and I collaborated last year on a series of Disney-inspired nail art and this year we're back! In 2018 we'll be doing a different collab each month and to kick things off we're both sharing a recipe for a Disney-inspired drink!

For my drink I wanted to share a vegan hot chocolate recipe as I've been on the hunt for one I could have at home for a while now and I think I've finally managed to find a good 'un! And of course I've added some Mickey ears to add a bit of Disney magic!

To try this for yourself you'll need:
Sweet Freedom Choc Shot Liquid Chocolate
Swedish Glace Smooth Vanilla
Dairy-free milk (I like to use soya)

This is a very easy drink to make up (I suppose any hot chocolate is...!) but the real star of the show is Sweet Freedom's Choc Shot. It's so versitile - you can use it to make super easy hot chocolates or you can even use it as a chocolate sauce with your favourite desserts! But the best part is that it's made mainly from fruit and no other added sugars so it's only 14 calories per teaspoon!

How to:
To make the hot chocolate I add some soya milk to my favourite Disney mug, heat up in the microwave for 1 minute, add about 4 teaspoons of Choc Shot and then heat for another minute. After giving it a good stir, I add a good few scoops of Swedish Glace in place of whipped cream and add an Oreo each side to make cute lil' Mickey ears! I totally forgot to do it here but as Choc Shot can also be used as a sauce you could also drizzle some over the ice cream to make it extra chocolatey. And that's it!

Let me know if you try this out for yourself and remember to check out Sam's absolutely delicious-looking Disney-inspired smoothie over on her blog!

P.S. I should just mention that I didn't come up with the Oreos for Mickey ears in drink idea myself - I think the lovely Kate Bellamy was the first person I saw doing it!
