Cute Buy Of The Month | January 2017

Hi lovelies! For my second post in this new series where I talk about something adorable that I've bought in the past month, it could be nothing else for me other than this Edna Mode mug! I'd spotted it on Instagram back in December and I had been checking the Disney Store's website everyday in the hopes of finding it as unfortunately I don't live anywhere near a physical store. I was just about to cave and ask someone to pick one up for me when it finally appeared online!

It's so rare to see any merchandise from The Incredibles so this mug was already pretty special to begin with but as Edna Mode is also one of my favourite Pixar characters (NO CAPES!), I knew I had to add this mug to my collection. I love the simplistic yet stylish artwork they used, and the purple and gold colours look so gorgeous together. I feel like Edna herself would approve!

But the best part of this mug has to be the quote of Edna's on the back: "I never look back darling, it distracts me from the now." YES EDNA! I love a good Disney quote (especially one as inspiring as this!) but you don't tend to see many on their mugs so this makes a lovely change.

If you'd like the snap this beautiful mug up for yourself, it's still available at the time of writing this on the Disney Store's website for £8.99. You might also want to check out the other mugs in this range - the Alice In Wonderland and Marie ones are especially cute!

How I Store and Display My Tsum Tsum Collection

Hi lovelies! I promised months ago that I'd do a post on how I store and display my Tsum Tsum collection but I got a little distracted by other posts so today I'm finally getting round to it! When I first started collecting Tsum Tsums I wasn't really sure how to store/display them. Although they are stackable (for anyone who's unfamiliar with them, Tsum Tsum means stack stack in Japanese), large collections of them don't tend to hold up too well on their own as a few Tsums are a little awkwardly-shaped for stacking - I'm looking at you 3 Peas In A Pod! However, then there's the problem of finding something that is perfectly sized to fit Tsums in...

Luckily I came across these shelves from Dunelm Mill (search "shadow box" on their website) which happen to be the right dimensions for fitting Tsum Tsums in! As my collection has expanded I've been able to buy more shelves to accommodate them so it's worked out pretty well luckily. The major downside however is the price - they're £14.99 each so you can only imagine how much I've spent on mine! My only solace is that if I ever go off Tsums at least I'll be able to re-use these shelves throughout my home for storage haha!

If you've got a small collection then I'd still recommend getting the shelves from Dunelm Mill, but considering how large my collection of Tsums has turned out to be, if I could start my shelving over again I think I'd definitely get the large wooden heart shelf that The Range does (search for "wooden heart shelf"). Victoria from Accio Victoria stores her collection in one of these and as you can see from her Instagram picture of it here, not only does it store loads of Tsum Tsums but it also looks super adorable! It is fairly pricey at £49.99 but when you consider how much I must have paid for all my shelves, there's no contest!

I hope this helps anyone who is new to Tsum Tsums, I know I was completely clueless on how to store mine when I first started!

Attempting The All-Time Toughest Disney Tag!

Hi lovelies! I was tagged by the lovely Victoria from Accio Victoria and Emma from Once Upon A Disney Blog to take part in the "All-Time Toughest Disney Tag Yet" and let me tell you, it really lives up to it's name! This tag was created by the gorgeous Mandy Jean World and you can see her original post on the tag here with all the rules on how to take part. Let's begin!

1. Who is your all-time favourite Disney animator, and why?
Ashamedly, I don't know much about Disney animators at all but Glen Keane sticks out for me as he's worked on many Disney films that I love such as Tarzan, Aladdin and Tangled.

2. What Disney era is your all-time favourite, and why? (i.e Golden Age, Renaissance etc.)
The Renaissance without a doubt. I grew up with these movies and they've gone on to become some of my all-time favourite Disney films!

3. If Walt Disney were alive and you were allowed to ask him ONE question, but ONE question only, what would you ask him?
What is your favourite Disney film that has been made since your death, and why?

4. Who is your all-time favourite Disney director, and why?
John Lasseter, but not necessarily for his Disney directing, more his producing! While he's directed a few of my favourite Pixar films (e.g. Toy Story and A Bug's Life), he has produced a much longer list of amazing Disney/Pixar films, including The Princess and the Frog, Wreck-It Ralph, Monsters University, Frozen, Big Hero 6 and Moana. Even more than that, it was due to John Lasseter's friendship with Studio Ghibli's co-founder Hayao Miyazaki that Disney ended up having ties with the Studio in the first place and he also served as executive producer of the US versions of many of my favourite Studio Ghibli films as well! Basically John Lasseter has played a part in creating so many of my most beloved films!

5. What is your all-time favourite Disney song, and why?
I actually did a post on my top ten favourite Disney songs last year and I chose I'll Make a Man Out of You from Mulan as the #1 song which is still true today! I don't think I'll ever get sick of that song, plus who doesn't love a good montage?!

6. If you were forced to erase ONE Disney movie from history, which would you pick, and why?
John Carter. I tried so badly to like it but I just couldn't, sorry!

7. Which Disney Park from around the world is your all-time favourite, and what makes it stand out from the others to you?
Hong Kong Disneyland! Partially because it's the first park I've been to that I can remember (I went to Disneyland Paris in my childhood but I was so little that I have next-to-no memories of the trip!) but also because it's such a magical, unique little resort. I mean... You can see mountains behind the castle! I know I'll love other resorts when I visit them but HKDL will always have a special place in my heart.

8. You have only 30 mins to spend in Disneyland before you're magically whisked back home by a portal. What do you do with that time?
If I could meet in a character in that amount of time then I'd definitely do that. If not then I'd probably run around taking pictures! I seriously need to get Parkbound Buttons' "I'm here for new Insatgram pics" button! #accurate

9. You get to choose ONE Disney heroine to join the official line of Disney Princesses, Who do you choose and why?
These questions are always a little confusing for me because I never know who to include in the line-up so I'm going to go off their current official one (Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Belle, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan, Tiana, Rapunzel & Merida). I'm sure they're probably adding her anyway, but I'd definitely choose Moana. She's such a great role model and it would be lovely if more people could see themselves represented in the Princess lineup!

10. Speaking of Disney Princesses... One will need to be demoted from the franchise to replace with the new heroine. Which existing princess would you remove from the franchise, and why?
This is so difficult because I wouldn't want to remove any of them, but if I had to choose then it'd probably be Snow White. While I love her and she's obviously very important in Disney's history, her character is unfortunately a bit outdated now and I don't think as many children are able to relate to her compared to the other Princesses.

11. What is your all-time favourite under-rated Disney movie, and why?
THE LONE RANGER. Oh my gosh. I feel like I could fangirl forever about this film yet nobody seems to know about it! It's a little uncomfortable for me to watch now as Johnny Depp stars in it (not to mention he also plays a Native American...) but it's such an epic, beautiful film that I can't stop loving it. I've linked the trailer here in case anyone want to find out more about it.

12. Which Disney villain do you feel is the most misunderstood and why?
I have to admit that I barely ever feel sympathy for Disney's villians - they're so good at creating evil characters! But from the Star Wars world, I definitely think that Kylo Ren falls into this category. It's part of the reason that I like him so much - he seems very conflicted about which path he wants to choose, the light or the dark. I find him a much more interesting villain than ones that are completely evil!

13. You can only choose ONE Disney animal to be your pet. Who do you choose, and why?
No contest - it would have to be Pascal! I'd love to take him everywhere on my shoulder with me as I feel like he'd have my back all the time and he's also totally add some much-needed sass to my day!

14. Who is the ONE Disney character you can relate to most, and why?
I think it would have to be Mulan! I'm very clumsy like her and I'm always embarrassing myself in any and all situations!

15. Finally, the toughest question of all... What is your favourite Disney movie of all time, and why?
I'm sure I'd give a different answer every time I'm asked this haha but based on how many times I've watched it, it's probably got to be Tangled! It's my go-to film when I need a little pick-me-up!

Phew... That took me forever to do! I tag Jamie from Once Upon A Blog - good luck!

Have Courage and Be Kind #AmbassadorsOfKindness

Hi lovelies! I'm super excited to tell you about a new campaign that fellow Disney Blogger Kimberley launched last week! It's called Ambassadors Of Kindness and it's based the live action Cinderella film, so as you can imagine I was excited for it from the moment I heard about it!

It's running from 13th January 2017 until 13th January 2018 and the goal of the campaign is that everybody who takes part completes one act of kindness everyday. Kim came up with the idea because she wanted to put some kindness back into the world, inspired by Ella's unwavering kindness from the 2015 Cinderella film, and I honestly think it's the loveliest idea.

Although it only takes the smallest act, such as complimenting someone's outfit or buying chocolate for a friend who has had a bad day, it can have the biggest impact on that person. For example a video I saw recently on YouTube by Buzzfeed called "This Group Of Strangers Helped My Mom Become A Doctor" shows how far-reaching one act of kindness can be. Although, like Kimberely, I've been trying to be kinder since I saw the live action Cinderella, it's often something I forget about in my day-to-day life so this is perfect way to keep it in my thoughts.
Although I'm a little late in starting, I will be beginning from today and I'm planning on doing some monthly posts, beginning in February, on some super easy ways that you can spread some kindness everyday!

You can view Kimberely's original post on the campaign here and you can also find the Ambassadors Of Kindness Twitter here. See you next month for my first #AmbassadorsOfKindness post!

Rapunzel Inspired Disney Nail Art

Hi lovelies! You may have seen that last year the lovely Sam from The Belle Jar and I did two nail art collabs based around Disney couples, so for The Nightmare Before Christmas Sam did Jack-inspired mani and I did Sally, and for Beauty and the Beast Sam did Belle whilst I did the Beast. To continue this series, Sam came up with the brilliant idea that we do each monthly collaboration this year based around which Disney film is featured in the 2017 Thomas Kinkade Disney Dreams calendar! As this month features one of my all-time favourite Disney films, Tangled, Sam has been tasked with creating Flynn-inspired nails, and I Rapunzel nails!
For my design I decided to go for a very simple look inspired by Rapunzel's beautiful floral hair towards the end of the film. I painted yellow on the tips to represent her gorgeous blonde hair and then used pink and white nail art pens to draw on some little flowers! Unfortunately the pink flowers don't really seem to have shown up in the photos haha...!
Nail polishes used:
Barry M Nail Paint in 308 Berry Ice Cream
Barry M Nail Paint in 134 Yellow

Nail pens used:
Barry M Nail Art Pen in Pink
Barry M Nail Art Pen in White

Remember to check out Sam's incredible Flynn nails (that little Maximum though!). See you in February for our next Disney couple!

2017 - The Year Of Working Towards My Dreams

Hi lovelies! Up until now I honestly feel like I've been coasting through life, just doing enough to get by and keep things moving. I've never really had a big dream that I've wanted to chase and while I have had things that I'd like to happen, I always presumed they were out of my reach. I think it's a combination of my natural laziness (!!) and the fear of going after a dream but never really achieving it. However I came to realisation at the end of last year that if you don't chase your dreams, you will fail to achieve them 100% of the time. So it's always better to at least try, right?

With that in mind, I want to make 2017 the year that I finally start working towards my dreams. These are three things that I want to work towards:

1. Work hard on my blog
At the end of last year my boyfriend's parents were asking about my blog and one of the questions they asked was "is this something you'd want to do professionally?". And it completely caught me off guard because I found my mind immediately shouted "YES!". I guess this is something I'd always wanted to do but I never wanted to admit to myself because it's quite a scary dream! Statistically this probably happens for very few people but as I said before, if you don't chase it, you'll never achieve it right? So in 2017 I want to put even more effort into my blogging and see where it takes me.

2. Research going to Hong Kong to work
When we went to Hong Kong on holiday last year both my boyfriend and I fell in love with it. We both know a fair number of people who have gone to Asia for a while to teach English and while I'd have been too scared to even think of doing something like this in the past, I've come to realise that this is something I really, really want. I mean... I could go to Hong Kong Disneyland every weekend *dies*. With us moving in together soon, I don't think this is something that will happen this year but I want to make sure I at least get the ball rolling by doing some research and completing the course that is required to do it.

3. Start writing
Ever since I was a little kid I always wanted to write a fiction book and have it published and from when I was a teenager I've had an idea for one bouncing around my head. Out of sheer laziness and probably a bit of fear, I've never attempted to write it down but this year I will! If anything, at least I'll get it out of my head!
Speaking of hard work and working towards your dreams, the first thing I think of when I hear this is Tiana from The Princess and the Frog. Admittedly before now I found it very hard to relate to her as I never really understood what it was like to have that kind of drive to chase your dreams, but 2017 will be the year of Tiana for me! I will be taking a lot of inspiration from her determination, hence why I started out the year watching The Princess and the Frog on 1st January. I have a feeling I'll be watching it many times more in the coming year to remind me how important it is to have goals to chase after.

Here's to working hard towards your dreams in 2017!

Disney Store Tsum Tsum Advent Calendar 2016 Review

Hi lovelies! 2016 was the first year that the Disney Store released a Tsum Tsum advent calendar and I knew as soon as it was announced that I had to get my paws on it! I know this seems like a strange post to publish in January but as the price of these put a lot of people off getting one last year, I thought a little review might be helpful for anyone who is considering getting one next Christmas instead!

First up, let's talk about the Tsums themselves! The calendar was released on the first Tsum Tsum Tuesday in November and while I know some collectors opened theirs straight away, I tried to avoid any spoilers about the Tsums inside as I wanted to save mine to use as an advent calendar in December. I'm so glad I did as it was so lovely to wake up every morning and discover a new Christmasy Tsum Tsum!

The characters inside were a mix of Mickey and Friends and some other popular characters such as Tinkerbell, Stitch and Marie so there was definitely something to please everyone! And I was honestly blown away by how adorable and detailed the Christmas designs on them were. Just look at little Baymax with his fairy lights and little Santa hat! Some of my other favourites were Pascal dressed as a candy cane, Eeyore in a reindeer costume and Chip & Dale shaped as little Christmas stockings! The Disney Store certainly stepped up their design game with this collection.

I should also mention that they were beautifully soft as well. One of my pet peeves about Tsum Tsums is that some of the collections are unfortunately over-stuffed and as a result feel quite hard. Luckily this wasn't the case with these as they were all very squishy so if you were buying these for children then I should imagine they'd love the softness of them!

As I said earlier, the price did put a lot of people off. It retailed for £80 and while I know as first that seems like an extreme amount for an advent calendar, all the Tsums inside were the regular mini size and as these usually retail for £3 each and there was 25 inside the calendar, it works out that you're only paying £5 for the calendar itself as 25 mini Tsums would usually cost £75 anyway. Obviously this is still a lot of money to pay out in one go for Tsum Tsums but as all the Tsums were brand new to this calendar and were so adorably designed, I honestly have to say that I thought it was worth the price tag. Admittedly I got mine as a Christmas present from my very kind (and understanding!) boyfriend so I suppose I can't really complain about the price anyway haha!

If the Disney Store do release another calendar in 2017 and you want to get one yourself this time - be warned of the release however! It was over an hour and 30 minutes after the usual release time of 8am before the calendar actually hit the website and I believe they sold out within minutes... It was definitely a stressful morning haha! So if you do want to get one for yourself, make sure you're prepared to battle for one!

I really hope this helps anyone who was interested in these calendars. If you have any questions on something I've not answered here, please feel free to ask in the comments below!

Cute Buy Of The Month | December 2016

Hi lovelies! Instead of doing my usual monthly favourites I thought I'd try a new series which I used to do on one of my old blogs called "cute buy of the month" where I share something I bought in the past month that I am obsessed with! As much as I loved the things I shared in my favourites posts, I felt like I was just writing those posts for the sake of it, so I thought it would be better to concentrate on just one thing every month that I really love. To kick things off I wanted to share this drop-dead-gorgeous notebook that I bought in December.
It comes from a range of journals based on Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, and I don't know about you but the design on this one screams Queenie Goldstein to me! I can just imagine her pulling this out of her handbag to jot down outfit designs or recipe inspirations.

Aside from the beautiful cover, what really drew me to this notebook was it's adorable concept. It's designed for using to write down things you don't want to forget (as the little cardboard slip on the outside of the notebook reads "forgot something? Next time write it down.") and as Harry Potter fans may spot, the spell printed across the front, Obliviate, is used to erase memories. How gosh darn it adorable is that?! (Not the erasing of someone's memories mind, more the concept of the notebook..!)

As one of my goals for this year is to finally start writing the two book ideas that have been in my head for a while, I find that I quite often forget the flashes of inspiration I have for these so I thought this notebook would be perfect for this! It's fairly teeny as well so it'll be perfect for tucking into my bag so I can have it with me all the time, ready for inspiration to strike!
It's available from quite a few different shops/websites including Waterstones and Amazon but I bought my copy from Wordery as it was only around £5 with free delivery! What better excuse to treat yourself?!

Crossing Off The Disney Classics In 2017

Hi lovelies! Collecting the Disney Classic DVD collection with their beautiful rainbow covers introduced me to Disney's range of Classic films and has made me realise that I've seen painfully few of them! At the time of writing this there are currently 55 films that have been released in the collection in the UK and I've only seen about 35 of them... But even worse than this, a lot of the films that I have seen I haven't watched since childhood so I can't really remember them! So in 2017 I'd like to rectify this by finally getting round to watching the whole collection, all within this year.
