The Nightmare Before Christmas Book by Tim Burton - Review

Hi lovelies! At the end of September a very special email landed in my inbox from the lovely @xpectopatronerd at Penguin Random House Children's UK, advertising advanced copies of a Nightmare Before Christmas picture book and as a huge NBC fan I jumped at the chance!

I have to admit I'm a bit of a terrible Disney fan as I had no idea that the screenplay of The Nightmare Before Christmas was based on a poem by Tim Burton! The book of it was previously only available in America but now Penguin Random House have been able to re-release it over here, complete with some new illustrations!
Everything about this book is downright magical. Both the story and drawings are simple but so spellbinding in that classic Tim Burton style. I could sit and stare at that picture above of Jack falling into Christmas Town forever. And those end papers! If you get your paws on this book then make sure to check out the subtle little addition on the end papers at the back!

This beautiful book would definitely make the perfect Christmas gift for children to treasure forever or a Disney/Tim Burton fan of any age. It certainly felt like Christmas day to me when this arrived at my door!
It was truly fascinating to see the origins of the film we've all come to know and love so well! Thank you so much Penguin Random House Children's UK!

This book was kindly sent to me by the publishers but all the thoughts in this review are my own!

Lush Plymouth Halloween and Christmas Haul 2016

Hello lovelies! Although I can't buy any bath products from Lush's seasonal collections as we don't have a bath in our house (*cries forever*) I still love the shower gels and other goodies that they come out with! I've not really tried anything from Lush's Halloween and Christmas collections before (apart from Snow Fairy of course!) so I thought I'd share the bits that I've picked up this year to try:
Halloween
Lord of Misrule Shower Cream
I'd seen this mentioned so much online so I was eager to try it and I can definitely see what all the hype is about now! I'm usually a sweet scents person but this honestly smells amazing. I'll have to buy a bigger bottle if I have the pennies to spare later!

Goth Fairy Shimmer Bar
One of the reviews on Lush's website said that they looked like a disco ball after using this product and I am 110% down for that! I will be saving this to use for special occasions and hopefully the odd Disney trip next year!
Christmas
Snow Fairy Shower Gel
Obviously I had to pick up a bottle of this magical stuff! I've just got a little one for now in the hope that I can make this last until Boxing Day when I'll inevitably be going on a huge Lush sales spree!

Snow Fairy Body Conditioner & Salt and Peppermint Bark
I want to get into self tanning after trying it for Hong Kong last month and loving it, so as the two key preparations for self tanning are apparently exfoliating and moisturising - I thought these two would be perfect to try for this! I've only tried the body conditioner so far but I'm already head over heels for it! It smells like Snow Fairy but somehow even better than the shower gel?! If you're a fan of this scent then you need to get your paws on this.

What Lush Halloween and Christmas products are your favourites? Send me your recommendations - I need to try more!

Five Disney Things To Do In Hong Kong

When we planned our trip to Hong Kong I knew we'd have to take a mandatory day trip to the Disneyland there so I could get my fix of magic, but I had no idea just how many other Disney things there are to do in Hong Kong! Disney is almost everywhere there - in museum gift shops, bakeries, corner-shops... It was safe to say I was in Disney heaven! So today I thought I'd share five Disney activities/places that any Disney fan needs to do in Hong Kong, aside from the Disneyland itself!

1. Visit the Disney and Marvel Theme 4D Magical World
Hidden away rather inconspicuously in a shopping centre, this is a definite must-visit for all Disney fans. It features lots of Disney backgrounds which you can take photos with to make it look like you're in a scene from the film! There's also Marvel and Star Wars backgrounds right at the end - perfect for convincing non-Disney-loving boyfriends to come along with you ;)
2. Shop Disney at the airport!
Apart from Hong Kong Disneyland itself, there are no other Disney Stores in Hong Kong aside from the ones inside the airport, so make sure you pay them a visit as you arrive and before you leave! I'm not sure how many there are but I know there's at least one in the unrestricted section of the airport and another in the terminal that we departed from.
3. Buy Disney-themed treats from Maxim's Cakes
This bakery chain is definitely worth having a peek at if you pass one of their shops as they have a range of Disney-themed cakes and desserts! I picked up one of their Toy Story Alien Tsum Tsum chocolate mousse pots (pictured below) which you can clean out afterwards and keep as a cute little storage container!
4. Go shopping in the Sino Centre
I found out about this place from my friend who is a Hong Kong national and I couldn't be more grateful that she told us about it! It's filled with all sorts of fandom/nerdy little box shops, selling everything from games to anime merchandise. There's a whole load of Disney in here as well and I ended up picking up the PRETTIEST planner, pencil case and pen (pictured here) which were imported from Japan. Just be warned that the majority of the merchandise is probably not official Disney. Personally that didn't bother me, but if you buy something like Tsum Tsums from here then proceed with caution!
5. Hunt for Disney bargains in the street markets
Whether you're into Disney or not, this is one experience that every tourist should have! The street markets are full of all sorts of merchandise and gifts from fake designer bags to dancing Pikachu toys (which we totally bought one of by the way). There's also lots of Disney things, although unofficial again, such as Minnie Mouse backpacks and massive Stitch plushes. Everything is sold by haggling here and as all the stalls sell similar things it's worth asking the price from several different sellers to find the best one - just be warned that they're very eager to sell to you once you look interested!

If you're going during the day or evening then you should head to Ladies Market on Tung Choi Street and for shopping after dark, Temple Street Night Market.

Sally Nightmare Before Christmas-Inspired Nails

Hi lovelies! Today's post is a collaboration with the oh-so-lovely Sam from The Belle Jar! Sam contacted me a little while ago to ask if I'd like to do a Disney couple nail art collab and with day 10 of Disney Style's #FallintoDisneyStyle Instagram challenge that I'm currently taking part in being a "Sally #ManiMonday" - Sally and Jack from Nightmare Before Christmas seemed like the perfect choice!
I know these aren't perfect but I'm actually pretty pleased with how they turned out! For the colours I decided to go with the red from Sally's hair, the patchwork colours from her dress and her gorgeous mint green skin colour which I then decorated with patterns from her dress and stitching. What do you think?!
The colours I used (left to right):
Models Own HyperGel in Red Lustre
Maybelline Color Show in Show Me The Green
Barry M Nail Paint in Vintage Violet
Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Sugar Apple
Beauty UK Nails in Daffodil Delight
Barry M Nail Art Pen in Black

Remember to check out Sam's downright adorable Jack Skellington mani! Hopefully we'll be doing more of these in future so watch this space!

Things I've Been Loving This Month | September 2016

Hi lovelies! Today I'm sharing the things that I'd been loving in September. Although our Hong Kong trip was last month I won't be sharing any Disney things I bought on the trip or any activities we did whilst on holiday as I'm already going to be doing lots of posts on those anyway! I did however end up buying some other Disney bits when I got home (oops!) so here are my favourites from this month, alongside some beauty things that I bought in Hong Kong:
Disney
Baby Judy Hopps Soft Toy - Disney Store
This was a totally unnecessary purchase but I'd seen Baby Judy on a few people's Twitters and I fell in love with her! Apart from Tsum Tsums I try not to collect too many soft toys but I couldn't resist this one.

Cinderella Mug - bought from a carboot sale
This was only £1 so it was a total bargain! I didn't actually have an animated Cinderella mug before this so this was a great find!

Halloween Town Disney Underground Art Print - itslizi
How amazing are these underground prints by Lizi?! I'd been meaning to order some for a while and when I saw she was doing a Halloween Town print, I ordered as soon as I had the money! If you're looking for some inexpensive but completely lovely Disney art prints, you need to check out her shop!

Peter Pan Big Ben Christmas Decoration - Disney Store
This is honestly one of the loveliest Christmas decorations I've seen from the Disney Store! I'm not the biggest Peter Pan fan but the design on this is so sweet. I was a bit worried about the quality of the painting before I received it but luckily it's all been done really well, with the exception of Peter's eyes which are crossed! I'll just have to pretend that he's pulling a face, haha!

Cruella De Vil Tsum Tsum - Disney Store
Unfortunately I missed out on the Villains Tsum Tsum collection as they were released while I was in Hong Kong so I had to add Cruella onto my order when I saw she was still in stock. Her little fur coat is so adorable!
Beauty
Nature Republic Jeju Sparkling Cleansing Tissue (available from eBay)
As I've mentioned before on my blog, I'm obsessed with K-Pop and when we came across a Nature Republic whilst wondering the streets in Hong Kong, I had to go in as I had heard of them from their collaberation with EXO and I was curious to see what their products were like. I ended up buying quite a lot and the lady at the checkout kindly gave me some of these cleansing tissues as a sample. I tried them out on the plane thinking they'd just be like normal wet wipes but my face has never felt cleaner! As soon as I got home I ordered two packs off eBay and I've been using them after a face mask to give my skin a really good refresh. I can definitely see these becoming a staple beauty product for me!

Nature Republic Nail Colour #48 Rosy Gold Dress (available from YesStyle)
Etude House Play Nail Colour #382 Aurora Pine Tree (available from YesStyle)
As I've got a bit of an addiction to buying nail polish (I have over 100 bottles...) it was inevitable that I was going to leave Hong Kong with at least one new bottle! I tried these two out when I got home and they look so pretty on! The application is also really great on them which is amazing considering they were the equivalent of about £1 - £2 each!

Hope you all had a lovely September!
